first off, what kind of job are you looking for? I would suggest trying to get in as a PA anywhere you can...start small. TV is more steady and easier to get in, but film is...well...its film.

next, i would have to say that the best way to get a job is to just get down here and get in the mix. I dont know many people who got a job through recommendation alone. You'll have to come down and just get started. Pepperdine and Malibu are a little outta the way and may be quite a commute to most places. Once you get your bearings, you'll find out how far you want to go. There are alot of opportunities in santa monica, but most of the jobs i know of are in the hollywood area...which is easily an hour or more from Malibu - with traffic.

Congratulations on your upcoming Graduation! It sounds as though you'll be getting a Film Degree? You didn't say. In that industry it's all about Networking. The other Alumni may help you out (I graduated from MSU with a degree in Marketing / Management so probably won't be of much help in Film related jobs). The one thing you can't do without in California is a car. A well-maintained, well working car, because the miles really add up around here, and you don't want to be breaking down or getting a flat tire on one of these freeways if you can help it!!
